About

Hi, I’m Ms Doreen and I’ve been teaching piano for 15 years, for kids as young as 3 years old to adults. I’ve been teaching since 2006, and used to teach at Yamaha Music School, and NAFA SYT (School of Young Talents). I left after I got married and now teaching private full-time at home.

I learned piano since 5 years old under the tutelage of my mom who is also a piano teacher in Indonesia. I was an Indonesian Chinese and has converted to a Singaporean now.

During my early days, I participated in many piano performances and competitions in Indonesia, and Singapore and won prizes.

Some notable ones include winning 1st prize in the S.Y. Lemye-Tjiong Piano Competition, and awarded a scholarship to perform in Europe for a month. I also won the 1st prize of Lucian Wang Piano Competition, and the NAFA ASEAN Award.

I also do piano accompaniment for different instruments for competition, concert and performance ranging from Western to Chinese instruments, vocal individual or choir group.

Till date, I have trained many piano students, to prepare them for auditions, concerts, competition, exam, events, and also train young students who are interested to join NAFA School of Young Talents.

In my lessons, my students will learn how to play the piano (practical playing, scales, sight reading, etc), theory and also aural. These are important aspects for training a good pianist.
