All Other Categories DO NOT have Sub-Groups, So Names Of Participants ARE NOT Listed Below. Refer To The Eventbrite Ticket For The Category You’ve Registered, And Turn Up For The Respective Timeslot. 

1. Do I need to record or submit any video before I turn up for the live audition?
No. You don’t need to record or submit any video for The Happy Music Festival 2023. There is no video component in this competition. The first round is a live audition, and applies to every contestant. So every contestant will come to the venue live and go through the live audition. No videos. 

2. What time do I need to report for my category?
Do reach 15 minutes before the start of your allocated audition timeslot. E.g. You’re competing in the Category Piano Little Star 1 on Sunday 10am. Do arrive between 9.45am and 10am to register at the counter.

3. What do I need to bring to register at the counter on live audition day?
You can register at the counter by showing the contestant’s student ID, NRIC or Eventbrite Ticket. Either physical or digital format is fine.

4. My child is registered under Piano Little Star category. How do I know if he is under Little Star 1 or Little Star 2?
For contestants under Piano Little Star category, we have split the participants into sub-group and allocate timeslot for each sub-group. Check the grouping and find the contestant name below, and turn up for the allocated timeslot will do.

5. My child is registered under Piano Classical Junior A category. How do I know if he is under Classical Junior A1 or A2 or A3?
For contestants under Piano Classical Junior A, we have split the participants into sub-group and allocate timeslot for each sub-group. Check the grouping and find the contestant name below, and turn up for the allocated timeslot will do.

6. My child is registered under Piano Classical Junior B category. How do I know if he is under Classical Junior B1 or B2?
For contestants under Piano Classical Junior B, we have split the participants into sub-group and allocate timeslot for each sub-group. Check the grouping and find the contestant name below, and turn up for the allocated timeslot will do.

7. I’m registered in other categories other than Piano Little Star, Classical Junior A, Classical Junior B. Do I have sub-groups?
No. Other categories do not have sub-groups. You just need to check the category you’ve registered and turn up for the allocated timeslot will do.

8. What happens after I register at the counter?
You’ll be given a queue number, and wait for your turn to enter the audition room to perform

9. Do contestants have time to practice in the room before starting the audition?
No. Audition will start once contestant enter hall. 

10. Do I need to do any self introduction before I start playing?
Nope. You do not have to do any self-introduction. You just need to enter the audition room, prepare yourself to perform, and start.

11. Is there a pedal extender at the venue?
Yes. A pedal extender is available if needed.

12. Is there a music stand?
Yes. 

13. What is the dress code?
No official dress code. You’re encouraged to dress well just like a live stage performance. You’re also encouraged to dress according to the piece you’re performing. Bonus marks may be awarded based on dress code and creativity.

14. Can I perform with music score or do I have to play from memory?
You can perform with the music score and will not be penalised. The judging will be based on performance, not memory. You can also choose to play from memory if that helps you perform better.

15. I will perform with score. Can I bring my exam score book, or a folder with printed music sheets?
Yes, you can bring the exam book, song book, folder with music sheets, or any music scores in physical or digital format to perform during the audition. 

16. Can any family member be present inside the audition room?
Yes. One parent/partner/friend can enter the room together with the contestant for the performance in front of the judges. He/she can also record the video performance for own keepsake. 

17. What happens if my performance during the live audition exceed time limit?
The time will start once the first note is played. When the duration is up, the judge will signal to you to stop your performance. You will not be disqualified if you exceed the duration limit.

18. Will The Happy Music Festival Team record video of every contestant’s audition?
No. We will not record any video of the live audition round. If you plan to have a copy of your/your child’s performance for the live audition, you can get someone (1 person) to enter the audition room to record the performance.  

19. What happens after my performance?
You can leave the audition room and the venue. Results will be announced on a later date.

20. What happens if I didn’t turn up for the live audition?
If you didn’t turn up for the live audition, it means you’ve withdrawn yourself from the competition. No certificates will be issued.
