I began my piano journey in 2009, initially picking up the instrument by ear and utilizing online resources such as YouTube piano tutorials. I embarked on my musical exploration with a strong interest in anime and Japanese music. At the age of 15, recognizing the need for formal instruction to advance my skills and pursue my passion for performing, I sought out a piano teacher.

I found Roy, whose guidance proved invaluable in my musical development. He helped me overcome numerous challenges and correct various bad habits. Under Roy’s guidance, I progressed rapidly, particularly through the study of classical music, which significantly enhanced my technical skills and performance abilities.

In addition to classical training, I have a talent for playing songs by ear and enjoy arranging and writing piano sheets for various pieces. Roy has provided constructive feedback on my arrangements, offering suggestions on creating contrasting dynamics and incorporating different techniques to refine my work.

Roy also encouraged me to participate in competitions and recitals, fostering my growth as a performer. In 2023, I competed in the Happy Music Festival event, where I placed first in the Open Pop Piano competition.

Today, I regularly busk with my digital piano on the streets of Singapore and have had the privilege of performing at various events, including Anime Festival Asia and performances at the Esplanade. I am also a member of my university’s piano ensemble, actively performing in many events organized by the club. One of the events I performed at was a charity concert event called Solace, which successfully raised over $50,000 for Ambulance Wish Singapore.

Roy’s mentorship has been a cornerstone of my musical journey. His dedication and expertise have not only shaped my technical abilities but also guided me as a performer, making Roy an influential figure in my growth as a pianist.
