Hi, I am Ms. Doreen, a piano teacher who has been sharing my love for music with students for nearly two decades. My musical journey began at age 5 in Indonesia, where I learned piano from my mother, herself a dedicated piano teacher. Growing up in an Indonesian Chinese family, I was immersed in music from an early age, participating in numerous competitions and performances. I’m proud to have won several notable awards, including first prize in the S.Y. Lemye-Tjiong Piano Competition, which gave me the wonderful opportunity to perform across Europe for a month.

Throughout my teaching career since 2006, I’ve had the joy of working with students of all ages, from young children as young as 3 to adults in their 70s. I teach everything from practical playing and music theory to aural skills, preparing students for various goals including examinations, competitions, and performances. I’m particularly proud of my students’ achievements, with many earning distinctions in their ABRSM exams and winning prizes in prestigious competitions.

As both a teacher and performer, I also work as an accompanist for various instruments, from Western to Chinese, and accompany both individual vocalists and choir groups. My teaching philosophy focuses on developing well-rounded musicians who not only master the technical aspects of piano playing but also develop a deep appreciation for music.
