About

Hi, I’m Teacher Ina, and I have been teaching piano since 2012. I started teaching part-time, and had a short teaching stint with Cristofori Music School, before going full-time private piano teaching.

I hold ATCL Diploma in Piano Performance, ABRSM Diploma in Piano Teaching, AMusTCL Diploma in Theory, Grade 8 in Piano and Grade 8 in Theory, and Grade 6 Yamaha (Equivalent to Grade 8 ABRSM). I also did a Diploma in Music Teaching (Early Childhood Music) from Seimpi Academy.

I also graduated with a Bachelor in Mathematical Science (Statistics) with Minor In Music from NTU (Nanyang Technological University). Currently, I’m pursuing Masters in Music Education in National Institute of Education (NIE).

Through my years of teaching, I have students young and old, from beginners to Grade 8, for exams and leisure, and I also prepares students for piano competitions and festivals to expand their exposure to music.

My teaching style may be different from how most teachers or music schools does lessons.

Instead of chasing examination and certificates, I prefer to expand my students’ exposure to music and encourage them to perform whenever they are ready.

Other than just the usual examination and classical pieces, I also do ear training and music pieces analysis so the students will link music theory with practical knowledge to increase their critical thinking skills in music.

I’ll also expose students to lead sheet reading, improvisation and also music composition too. Overall, a holistic music learning experience.

I have personally benefited from my own music education, having performed and won several competitions, such as coming first in Yamaha Duet Junior Competition 2004, and Silver Award for Yamaha Senior Competition 2008.

I hope to do the same for all my students for them to gain the maximum benefits and become the best musician they can be.

I highly recommend teacher Ina who is a patient, dedicated and caring teacher. She was my daughter’s piano teacher for 4 years since P1. Unlike some teachers that heavily focus on graded exams, teacher Ina also encourages and exposes her students to different pieces by various composers as well as raising their passion to pursue the piano journey.

Under the guidance of teacher Ina, my daughter participated in several piano competitions and recitals and won awards in SMTA and Asia Youth Competitions. We are thankful and grateful to have teacher Ina as my daughter’s piano teacher.

I am confident in recommending her to any student who has a passion in learning piano.
